Q:
What
is an iButton?
A: An iButton is a memory chip containing a unique ID which is stored inside a button-shaped, water-resistant, stainless steel case.
Q:
How do you install the Oversight software?
A: Once you login to your private, online database, you can simply download our software from there. On the left hand toolbar is a tab that says Instructions, click on it. Next, click on "Oversight Client Software" and begin the installation process.
Q:
Can
anyone
view the online reports? Are they safe?
A:
Not just anyone can view your reports.
Your
collected data
online is protected by a
secure
User ID and password on the database that
Oversight
creates for
you.
Only those permitted by
your
company's
authorized manager have access to this User ID and password.
Since data is stored on our server, it doesn’t
reside on your computer, so you don’t have to worry about it being tampered with
or deleted, or losing it to a computer crash.
Q:
How long are reports available online?
A:
Forever!
Reports are stored on our server and they are there for you
to access at anytime from anywhere.
Q:
How do you get the iButton to stay in the key fob? (small black plastic iButton
holder)
A:
Take the key fob and hold it under hot water for 10
seconds.
After 10 seconds quickly snap the iButton into place.
It will not come out after it has been snapped in.
Note: you may have to hold the key fob under the water longer than 10 seconds
depending on how hot the water is.
Q:
How does data on the device get transmitted online?
A:
When you download data to your computer, using either a
serial cable, a USB cable, or a USB key, our Oversight software is engineered to
automatically send it to the database we have created for you online so you can
instantly check your reports.
Q:
Does Temp Tracker have to be used for only
temporary employees or can it be used for permanent employees as well?
A: Temp Tracker was designed specifically for temporary employees to keep their time and attendance separate from permanent employees as to not disrupt company’s payroll or HR systems.
Q:
What happens if you scan barcode or iButton twice by accident?
A:
Don’t worry about it.
Have an authorized manager contact us and we'll fix
it for them on their database.
Q:
How do I get the adhesive to stick to iButtons?
A:
The adhesive pad works best on most metal, sealed wood and
glass, as well as many plastic, composite, and painted surfaces.
· First,
clean the surface of the objects thoroughly with a mixture of 50% isopropyl
alcohol and 50% water and wipe it dry.
· Firmly
apply adhesive
with pressure to develop better adhesion contact and thus
improves bond strength.
(Typically,
uniform thumb pressure on the
iButton
will achieve the desired result.)
· Let
it sit.
At room temperature approximately 50% of the ultimate bonding strength is
achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours.
Q:
Can the barcode scanner or iButton reader get wet?
A:
The barcode scanner and barcodes are not water resistant
and should not get wet.
On the other hand, the
PulseStar
iButton reader
and individual iButtons
are
water resistant,
as well as dust and dirt resistant.
iButtons are the recommended solution for outdoors and conditions that require a
more rugged and durable solution.
